Volunteer Opportunities

Zion Hill CDC offers many volunteer opportunities for people who would    like to become more involved. Current volunteer opportunities include:
  • Volunteer Intern- This is a structured apprenticeship program. The person in this position will be matched and assigned to observe, engage and follow the lead and direction of the staff professional.  The volunteer will accept and complete short term projects aimed at building capacity within the organization. This opportunity extends to writing reports, program development, data entry and website development, special events, fundraising and community outreach. 

  • Administrative Assistant- This volunteer opportunity will consist of clerical and data entry responsibilities. The Administrative Assistant will assist in the daily operation, communication with staff and  visitors, answer phones, accept and distribute mail and packages, issue receipts, photo copy, and file.  Computer literacy is a must.  May be called upon to perform other light tasks, as needed.

  • Z Boutique- Retail experience preferred.  The resale/thrift store is a symbol of our mission to empower women in the areas of self esteem and outward appearance.  The Z Boutique relies heavily on attention to expert customer service.  There are 3 boutique positions to select from. 1) Keyholder- has the responsibility of opening and closing the store, cash handling, merchandising and displays.  2) Personal Shopper – acts as the sales associate with a primary focus on customer service by understanding the customer’s needs and being familiar with store inventory 3) Clothing Processor- Clothing care specialist. Works as part of a team to sort, prepare and display clothes for sale. This role calls for an organized and detail oriented volunteer.

  • Workshop Facilitator- These are specialized areas of expertise. This volunteer service opportunity provides information and instruction and on financial management, employment and life skills.  Workshop facilitators present on subject matters applicable to both staff and clients. Good presentation and communication skills a must. Need to demonstrate thorough understanding of the workshop topic along with the ability to answer questions. Come prepared with all necessary handouts.   
  • Employment Coach Assistant- Knowledge of Metro Atlanta workforce opportunities. Willingness to approach and cultivate relationship with local East Point employers; with an emphasis on entry level positions.  Background and familiar with hiring trends and policies. Case management experience helpful. Handle on how to navigate internet job searches. Assist clients in resume writing, cover letter development and interviewing skills.

  • Facilities Coordinator- Oversee general facility maintenance. Report directly to Executive Director. Knowledge of OSHA workplace guidelines.  Assume care and upkeep of interior and exterior grounds. Deal with outside contractors and service suppliers when called upon. Respond to all issues involving furniture, equipment, space planning and telephone systems. Comfortable with some or more than one area of general labor, renovation, plumbing, flooring, electrical, repair and machinery. Helpful to have community contacts to call on for assistance for discounted work. Can agree to being ‘on call’.

  • Episodic Volunteer- Volunteer opportunities that can be done one time or over a short period of time.
